Wardrobe with 3 Alsatian Renaissance columns

Motifs with bastioned cushions, known as à la Vauban, by analogy with the outline of the fortifications built under Louis XIV, for this beautiful Alsatian wardrobe whose highly architectural facade is punctuated by three ringed columns. The design of this piece of furniture is typical of the work of the cabinetmakers of the guilds of small Alsatian towns of the end of the 17th century or the first years of the 18th century: the three columns are supported on consoles with flowery decoration, the facade is inspired by buildings and the classical architecture of antiquity, the principles of which were taken up and disseminated under the Italian Renaissance and again disseminated in our regions in the 17th century. The inlaid decoration is made up of geometric patterns, reserves of burl wood enclosed in wide nets of noted wood. The cousins ??in relief are flanked in the corners by foliated motorcycles in carved wood, taken up in a frieze on the cornice. The sides are covered with rectangular cushions in relief. A large drawer is integrated into the base. Very beautiful period lock and hinges in worked steel, whose tinned finish recalls that of silver and enriches the interior of this beautiful wardrobe. Different types of wood make up this piece of furniture, in particular: Walnut, Ash, Cormier, Maple, Fir Oak.
