BOUCHARD Henri - Alsatian Girl Picking Flowers Henri Bouchard

Rare sculpture, ´The Alsacian woman picking flowers, for this bronze, old edition cast, by the artist Henri Bouchard (1875-1960), signed on the terrace, green marble base.

Bouchard studied at the School of Fine Arts in Dijon, his hometown. Then it will be the Julian Academy, the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris, from 1895 he goes to the National School of Fine Arts where he will follow the training of the sculptor Louis-Ernest Barrias, and wins the Grand Prix of Roma in 1901.He will be a professor at the Julian Academy, at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris, then at the National School of Fine Arts. His career was crowned with success, to meet the demand he had a vast workshop built around 1924 at the gates of Paris, which would become a museum dedicated to his work after his death. He will integrate many institutions including the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and will be appointed president of the Salon of French artists, and will be made Knight of the Legion of Honor. The Bouchard Museum will close in 2007 and its collections will join the La Piscine museum in Roubaix in 2017.
