Box carved walnut Alsace XVII century

Rare walnut box, often offered for engagement, these boxes commonly called courtesy box, were intended to store the letters and personal letters of the bride. Beautiful specimen in walnut, panels carved with scrolls and scrolls, surrounded and bordered by wavy moldings, beautiful hinges in engraved and tinned iron, central handle with scrolls. South of Alsace or Switzerland. Period 17th century.
