Rare cabinet offered during a birth, designed to contain the newborn's trousseau. His layette was stored in the drawers, the upper part, opening to a door, was intended for the precious objects offered on the occasion of the happy event: cups in gold, silver and vermeil, cutlery, rattles, jewelry… This type cabinet, rather rare, is part of the Rhine furniture, this one probably originates from the south of Alsace or from Switzerland around Bale. Beautiful fittings in tinned steel. Interlacing decor surrounded by maple fillets and walnut curls. Period early 18th century.
